First up on this weeks Polyphonic 3 is Timmy’s long time favourite Toyface:
Toyface is a Bristol based Singer/ songwriter who is slowly on the up and up. Her powerful voice and song lyrics make each track a soul full masterpiece with a cheeky fun flair. If you have the chance to see her live don’t miss it her live performances are energetic and powerful. Her track “Beige Walls” is available for download on itunes now and is guaranteed to stay in your head for some time as infectious pop melodies mingle with simplistic piano accompaniment.
Next up we had This Car is on Fire. A fun loving indie pop band from out of space… Well Poland to be honest but they prefer to play spacemen. The band have been around for a few years but are beging to gain momentum and extra press since their latest Album, produced by Chicago’s alternative legend John McEntire (Stereolab and The Sea & Cake) entitled Ombarrops!
If you like Stereolab and are not afraid to to experiment in your electro indie we highly recommend these guys.
Lastly we tuned into Kele Okereke’s latest project. A solo album of more personal darker electro. The framework is still reminiscent of Bloc Party but with an electro edge that some may find harder to take at first. Less commercially polished this may be a fans only album but it holds a lot of potential for further projects. The lead single is called Tenderoni a raging electro synth number which may do better as a remix than in it’s original form? Let us know what you think. You can check out his music from myspace.… we’ll keep an ear out for any remixes but let us know if you hear any first.
See you next week.
